Week 3! Ok, definitely still playing DDR, but finding I'm not always that great at doing it on the weekends. Weird, huh? You'd think that with ALL THAT TIME I'd find time to have fun. But no. It doesn't happen that way. This past Saturday we had another big day of running around. One of our friends from church, Chris, is actually a first-year Teach For America corps member, and while I try to convince him life WILL get better, he sometimes needs help remembering that. So, we took him out on our day of errands (since he doesn't have a car), and stopped off at a few places he needed, too. Needless to say, after visiting Old Navy, AC Moore, IKEA, and BJ's, I think I got my walking in for the day. Sunday I decided to get massively sick again. I do a REALLY good job of getting sick on the weekends, huh? Josh was gone almost all day though, so I got a LOT of sleep in, mostly kicking the irritating bug by Monday.
So, aside from playing hooky on the weekend (and doing a walkathon instead), I got in another 3 workouts, of 40-60 minutes long each. I'm definitely building endurance, getting better, and doing faster, harder songs. This week I beat one of the "endurance" songs (5 songs combined into 1 really long one) that I hadn't been able to before. Yay, me. Also, I discovered a part of the game where instead of stepping on the dance mat in the right space at the right time.... you just do ALL the dance steps as fast as you can (the music just plays in the background). Now THOSE have gotten my heart pumping and left me out of breath. Plus, I love competition, and who better to compete against than yourself, eh?
Now, about the weight loss. I haven't changed eating habits (I try to eat well as it is), but I have lost almost 3 pounds so far. So, without really "trying", I'd say that's pretty good, right? Considering it's only been 3 weeks (and apparently, the latest news is that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to lose about 1 lb/week). I'll keep ya posted about how things go as the weeks continue. In the meantime, I just thought I'd let you know I'm still kicking Josh's DDR butt. Yup.
