Ok, week 2.
Confession: I didn't get in very many workouts this week. It was due to being sick for a few days, but I also skipped out on a Saturday workout since the weather was so nice and we were out and about all day (I know we walked at least 5 miles - probably more). I still got in 3 workouts, though... and have gotten quite a bit better, too! I'm still not on to the "Difficult" level, though I have tried a couple of the easiest Difficult songs. It's a good thing nobody was watching - I don't need to be reminded me how ridiculous I looked as I tried to switch my feet around faster than they're capable of moving while still attempting to maintain a vertical position with my body. I probably looked a bit like one of those rubber chickens flopping around. Whew. It's exhausting just thinking about it.
Speaking of levels, I was mentioning to Josh my non-success at the Difficult level, and how I'd probably "never ever get to the Expert, much less the Oni level." At that he asked, quite suddenly, "They have an Oni level?!" Now, I don't know about you guys, but I don't know Japanese, and just assumed Oni meant "Master" or something like that. Josh, however, in his wonderful wealth of knowledge, informed me that Oni actually means "demon"... fantastic! There's a demon level. I don't know that I'll ever get to be that good.
I do know that I'm not too shabby anymore, though -- as evidenced by me schooling Josh in a duel. Since I was too self-conscious about my floundering feet to let Josh watch as I played, we decided it'd just be much better if he could just play with me! S, we got a second mat (from Best Buy again), and had a dance-off. Let's just say he needs to brush up on his skills. For all of his DDR days in middle school, high school, college, etc, he's a bit out of practice. I'll let you know if he manages to catch up to me again. ;-)
So, my goal for this week is to make sure I play more regularly (i.e. not leave out 4 days in a row like I did this week). Next week I'll also post about some of the side effects of my DDR experiment - including weight loss (see? now you're interested). Until then, here's to happy dancing and not looking like a rubber chicken.

Hooray! I love rubber chickens. :o) I don't know that Wii DDR has on Oni level. hmm...maybe they don't show you until you've conquered some of the lower stuff. Maybe I should get on that...
Yup, you should. Especially if you end up having to be the substitute female leader on the trip ;-)
