Maura Cassiana de Souza, on the left, went to be with Jesus this past Tuesday.
I've wanted to talk about it, and I can't. I don't even know what to say. I don't think there's much I can say.
But this I do know. Tomorrow, I will wear yellow, along with hundreds - if not thousands - of other people around the world who love Maura.
Maura is the younger sister of one of my dearest friends (Lydia, on the right in the pic), and she was a truly incredible person, too. Not just the kind of incredible person everyone says people are after they're gone... but truly an incredible, amazing, beautiful and joyful woman, friend, sister and daughter. I don't think you could ever be around her and not be smiling and happy. She truly abounded in love for people, as the whole de Souza family does.
To read Maura's story, visit the blog her mom is keeping: mauraupdate.blogspot.com The Houston NBC and Houston Fox channels also reported about Maura's story, and her college graduation is up on YouTube (links to all of these are also on the blog).
Then, wear yellow tomorrow, go donate blood and platelets, make a donation to the Maura Cassiana de Souza Music Scholarship Fund, and keep praying for her family: her parents, Erin and Joel, and her sisters, Lydia and Danielle (in the middle of the picture).
